Your role:
As a geotechnical engineer, you will be in charge of collecting, analyzing and interpreting offshore soil data to perform foundation and cable selection for early-stage project assessments. As a geotechnical engineer you are responsible for organizing, procuring and following up geophysical and geotechnical site investigations. You will participate to the soil related design reviews during foundation the design process for the foundations of an offshore wind farm. Furthermore, you will provide expertise in the selection and follow up of installation methods for substructures and cables.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Provide soil expertise and participate in continuously improving our internal knowledge build-up related to geotechnical design.
- Develop ground models and conceptual geotechnical designs for offshore energy related structures.
- Identify the soil related interfaces during design and installation of wind turbine foundations and offshore high voltage station foundations.
- Provide support on soil related matters during the design, installation, and construction to the management.
- Review and create Employer Requirements soil- related to foundation design & installation.
- Assist in the selection of the geotechnical design consultants, survey companies and/or T&I Contractors.
- Prepare scopes and specifications for tender documents for foundations and review tender documents.
- Follow up of the different tenders issued for site investigations and installation of the foundations.
- Participate in supplier selection process.
- Follow up and comment on the engineering documents from the appointed installation contractors.
- Preparation, participation, and processing of follow-up meetings with the contractor(s) or design consultants.
- Review the contractor’s assumptions and documents to assure compliance with the employer’s requirements.
- Liaise with independent verification bodies.
- Keep track of and implementation lessons learned.
- You will be reporting to the Manager Foundation Package
Flexibility (in both directions) will be a large part of your function. You will have the opportunity to perform offshore visits (and occasionally you will have to travel, in Belgium as well as abroad).
Job requirements
Your Profile:
- Master degree in geotechnical Engineering, (geophysical knowledge is a plus).
- Experience in offshore wind, experience with offshore geophysical and geotechnical survey is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and problem-solving attitude.
- You are driven, pragmatic and solution-oriented.
- You have a hands-on mentality.
- You are a team player and have the necessary communication skills.
- Ability to manage own workload and meet demanding timescales.
- You are fluent in English, fluency in Dutch and/or French is a plus.
- Knowledge of geotechnical software such as GRLWEAP is a plus.
