Parkwind is an independent green energy company that develops, finances, and operates offshore wind farms. With more than a decade of experience and 771 MW under operational management in the Belgian North Sea, Parkwind is currently expanding internationally and has an active development pipeline of 4.5GW (net) across a number of European and other markets where it is working with a number of credible partners. Parkwind is also constructing the 257MW Arcadis Ost 1 project in Germany which expected to reach full operation in 2024. In light of its further international business expansion, Parkwind is looking to enlarge its Public Affairs & Sustainability team with a Sustainability Officer.


Your role:

You will be joining Parkwind’s Public Affairs & Sustainability team and will mostly be involved at project level. Your main responsibilities will include the following:

  • Provide input to the different projects to manage environmental and nature conservation aspects related to the development of offshore wind projects (EIA and implementation of permit requirements) as well as social responsibility matters such as human rights and local impact.
  • Support the development and implementation of Parkwind’s corporate sustainability strategy;
  • Identify, monitor and inform on regulatory developments related to sustainability;
  • Monitor the evolution of reporting standards internationally, at EU and national levels and contribute to sustainability reporting at project level;
  • Cooperate closely with relevant departments (HSSE, O&M, Technology, Business Development, …) and provide input towards the development and implementation of environmental and social management systems and tools;
  • Oversee measurement processes across the supply chains (life cycle and criticality assessments) and develop and implement KPI’s – monitor and report on sustainability performance;
  • Develop and deliver sustainability briefings and trainings to educate stakeholders and employees on sustainable management practices;

You will be a member of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team and will report to the Public Affairs & Sustainability Manager.


Job requirements

Your profile:

  • You have a master’s degree and/or additional qualifications in environmental science (such as bio/materials/chemical focus), sustainability, (marine) biology, ecology or other related field or you have the required equivalent experience.
  • You have at least 2-3 years of experience, preferably with environmental and social sustainability integration.
  • You have knowledge of the renewable energy sector and its sustainability challenges.
  • You have a passion for sustainability and its integration in business processes and decision-making.
  • You have the ability to manage several topics at the same time without losing oversight.
  • You have good diplomatic and social skills and enjoy building relationships with stakeholders.
  • You are a team player and possess a high level of integrity.
  • You have an analytical mindset, you think strategically and you want to see things through from A-Z.
  • You are flexible and willing to travel on an occasional basis.
  • You are proficient in English, and fluent or at minimum basic knowledge of Dutch and/or French and willing to analyze tender documents in foreign languages translated through software (DeepL etc.).
